Chilly chicken Gravy




The Chilli chicken gravy recipe is a popular Indo – Chinese dish. Chilli chicken gravy is a spicy non-vegetarian item can serve with fried rice, noodles, chapati, etc.This dish can serve in special occasions and surprise the guests.

Chilli chicken gravy recipe

Ingredients

Chicken - 500 gms
For marination:- Ginger and garlic paste - 1 and 1/2 tsp
Kashmiri chilly powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Egg -1 (beaten)
Cornflour - 2 tbsp
Soya sauce - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Maida - 3 tbsp
For gravy:-
 Green chillies - 2 (chopped)
Ginger and garlic - 1 tbsp (chopped)
Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 tsp
Water - 1 cup
Soy sauce - 1 tbsp
Tomato sauce - 1 tbsp
Green chilly sauce - 1 tbsp
Vinegar - 1/2 tsp
Sunflower oil - 2 cup
Onion - 2 (cube sliced)
Sugar_  1 tsp
Salt to taste
Capsicum - 1 (cube sliced)(for more colorful use different colors of capsicum_  optional)
Corn flour - 1 tsp
Water - 2 tsp
Spring onion - 2 tsp (chopped)
Celery - 1 tsp (chopped)

Method

Step 1.  Clean and cut the chicken in to cubes.
Step 2.   Grind together chopped ginger garlic, kashmiri chilly powder, pepper powder, egg, cornflour, soya sauce, maida, to a fine paste by adding 2 tsp of water.
Step 3.  Marinate the cleaned chicken cubes with this paste and keep this for 20 minutes.
Step 4.  Heat sunflower oil in a pan and deep fry the chicken pieces and keep aside.
Step 5.  Heat some oil (you can use the same oil which is used for frying chicken pieces) in a deep pan.
Step 6.  Add onion, capsicum and salt. When it becomes soft. Remove and keep it aside.
Step 7.  In the same pan add sugar then add chopped green chillies,  chopped ginger and garlic. Saute for 3 minutes.
Step 8.   Add kashmiri chilly powder and saute for 2 minutes. Add 1 cup of water and when it starts boiling add soy sauce, green chilly sauce ,vinegar and tomato sauce and mix well.
Step 9.  Add fried chicken pieces and mix well. Cover and cook till the sauce is reduced and chicken pieces are coated well with the sauce. Add chopped spring onion and chopped celery.
Step 10.  Take a glass and mix 1 tsp of corn flour and 2 tsp of water. Add this to the cooked chicken and mix well. So that you will get a thick chilly chicken gravy.
Step 11.  Tasty chilli chicken gravy is ready.
