Beef Fry
This spice rich Kerala style beef fry is hot favourite to any keralites. This curry would be spicy, simple to prepare and taste to good. Beat pieces cooked in freshly ground spices and sauteed onions, coconut slices gives a rich aromatic flavor, promising to tangle your taste buds and leave you carving for more.....It pairs with Kerala parotta, rice, appam, kappa or any roti/ Indian bread varieties. .......
Ingredients:
Beef - 1/2 kg, cleaned and cut into medium sized cubes
Shallots - 1 cup, crushed
Ginger - 2 inch piece, crushed
Garlic - 4-5 large cloves, crushed
Chilly powder - 2 tsp
Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Fennel seed- 1/4 tsp crushed
Whole dry Pepper Powder - 1 tsp crushed
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
Thengakothu/Coconut Pieces - 1/2 cup slices
Salt - As per taste
Vinegar - 2 tsp
Curry Leaves - 2 sprig
Onion - 2
Coconut Oil as required
Method
In a mixing bowl, combine together beef,garam masala, ginger, garlic, shallots, coconut slices, chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, fennel seeds, vinegar and salt to taste. Marinate these ingredients and Keep in aside for 1/2 hour.
Add little water and pressure cook till the beef is cooked well. Beef takes more time to cook. Keep the cooker closed till the pressure is gone. If there is excess water, cook till the water is dried completely.
Now, heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan.Add onion and curry leaves,saute until it turns golden brown.Now add the cooked beef , garam masala and black pepper powder.Mix well until combined.( Add more salt if required)
Cook on a low flame till it turns black in color. It may take 10- 15 minutes.
