Ellunda

Sesame seed balls or ‘ ellunda ‘ can be used as a meal snack instead of biscuits and chips. Sesame seed balls are healthy and very tasty snacks for children. Sesame seeds also reduce bad cholesterol and balance good cholesterol.
Try this simple Kerala traditional sweet snack recipe.
Ingredients:
Black sesame seeds( ellu) - 250g
Jaggery -150g
Ghee - 2 tsp
Grated coconut- 1 cup
Cardamom – 1 tsp
Water - 1/4 cup
Method :
Wash sesame seeds and dry the sesame seeds under the sun rays for some time. After that roast the sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat. Stir continuously, and roast until they start to burst. Remove and spread them on a large plate. Heat a pan and make syrup of jaggery with 2 teaspoon water and filter it.Heat jaggery syrup to thick, add grated coconut and stir well.Remove from heat and keep it aside.Crush the roasted sesame seeds and mix with jaggery along with 1tsp of ghee and cardamom pd . Mix it well.
When it cools a little, make it into small balls.
Tasty ellunda is ready.
