Potato Peas Curry
Green peas and potato Varatharacha Curry

Ingredients:
Dry Green peas - 1 cup
Potato - 1 big cut into small pieces
Grated coconut -1/2 of one coconut
Coconut strips (Thengakothu) : 1/4 cup (optional)
Onion - 1
Coriander pd- 3 tsp
Red Chilli Fried powder 2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Shallots (pearl onions) - 6 to 7 cut into pieces
Garlic - 2 Piece
Tomato- 1 Chopped
Green chillies - 4
Ginger -1 piece finely chopped
Fennel seed- 1tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Curry leaves
salt for taste
For Seasoning:
5 to 6 shallots, chopped
1 sprig curry leaves
Coconut oil
Method
Clean and soak green peas in water ( 4 to 5hrs). Drain and cook in Pressure cooker with just enough water to cover the peas.
Add also cook potatoes too..
Heat a pan, add grated coconut along with fennel seeds, shallots, Garlic and curry leaves and dry roast till get it brown. Add coriander pd, red chilli powder , turmeric powder. Switch off and. Grind it to a fine paste adding little water and keep it aside.
In a kadai, add cooked peas and potatoes. Add tomato, Onion, green chillies, ginger chopped and Coconut strips Then add the coconut paste with water and add salt. .
Cook with low flame for 10 minutes and add the garam masala Powder. Remove from flame.
Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped shallots and curry leaves, stir well and add this seasoning to the curry.
Close using a lid.
