Milk Peda / Doodh Peda
Milk peda is one of the traditional Indian sweets that is prepared during festive occasions or celebrations. This is a quick recipe of making pedas ...
Ingredients:
Milk powder-1cup
Sweetened condensed milk- 1/2 tin
Ghee-3tsp
Saffron-a pinch
Warm milk- 1/4cup
Chopped almonds – to garnish
Preparation:
Soak saffron in warm milk for 30 minutes.
In a large non-stick pan add condensed milk, milk powder and saffron milk.
Mix well to avoid any lumps.
Keep stirring while cooking and cook until it starts to leave the sides of the pan.
At this stage add ghee and mix well.
When all the milk scraps get gathered together in a fine consistency ( completely leaves from all the sides of the pan), switch off the flame.
Allow to cool down for few minutes and when it is still warm, make small pedas . (grease your palm and make small balls out of it and press lightly to give a nice shape). Garnish with chopped almonds .
It will set within an hour and gets the perfect texture.
Store in an airtight container for long use.
Note:
We can use milk and sugar instead of condensed milk, but it takes long time to prepare the peda until the milk thickens completely. For 1cup of milk powder, use 500ml of milk and 3/4 cup sugar.
