Squid Coconut Roast

Ingredients

Squid – 1 cup(cleaned)
Shallots(kunjulli) – 6 nos
Coconut – 1/2 cup(grated)
Onion – 2 nos(chopped)
Garlic – 5 cloves(chopped)
Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) – 1/2 tsp
Ginger – 2 tsp(grated)
Dry red chillies – 3 nos
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Chilly powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Pepper – As reqd
Salt – As reqd
coconut slices (Thengakothu  ) : little (optional)
Preparation Method

For preparing kanava varutharacha fry, first dry roast cumin, shallots and coconut.
Crush them in mixer.
Marinate squid with turmeric, chilly powder, coriander, garam masala and salt.
Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, dry red chillies and curry leaves.
Add onion and fry till golden in color.
Add marinated squid and fry well.
Add the crushed coconut mix, cover and cook squid.
When done, fry and make it a roast. Add pepper according to taste.
Varutharacha kanava roast is ready.
NOTES
Adjust the quantity of green chilies and  chili powder , pepper pd according to your taste.
