Chicken Mezhukkupuratti

Mezhukkupuratti is a delicious and very tasty stir fry recipe from Kerala, typically prepared with veggies, but this is using chicken instead of vegetable, along with the traditional ingredients- spices, sliced onions and green chilies.  It is very simple to prepare also.
   Ingredients:

Chicken- 500 gms, cut into medium Crushed black pepper- 3/4tsp
Yogurt/ curd- 1 tbsp
Fennel powder- 1tsp
Onion- 3, finely sliced
Ginger Garlic - 1 tbsp each crushed
Pepper powder-1/2 tsp
Green chilies- 3
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder-2 tsp
Salt- to taste
Curry leaves- 4 sprig
Coconut oil- 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
Dry red chilies- 2

  Method:

Wash the chicken pieces neatly , drain out and set aside.

Marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, salt and crushed pepper powder. Keep it for 30 minutes in refrigerator.

Heat a pan with coconut oil, add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Then add in dry red chilly and saute.

Add crushed ginger, garlic and green chilies. Saute until the raw smell goes on. Add onions and curry leaves, combine well. Saute until onions are soft and translucent, no need the onion to change its color.

Add turmeric powder and coriander powder, combine well and saute until raw smell fully goes on.

Add marinated chicken pieces and mix well.

 Close the pan with a lid and cook in medium flame for 20 minutes. Adjust salt at this level, do not add water, chicken will leaves out sufficient water to cook.

Add fennel powder and pepper powder, combine well. Cook for 2 more minutes and serve hot along with rice / chappati.
