Chicken Changezi

Chicken Changezi is a very popular dish of Delhi , which has some mughalai flavor in it. It is made with roasted chicken in a rich gravy of milk, cream and cashews....
Ingredients:

Chicken - 1 kg
Onion - 3 medium
Tomato - 2 medium
Ginger paste- 1 tsp
Garlic paste- 1 tsp
Green chili- 2
Kashmiri Chili  powder - 1 tsp
Chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala powder- 1/2 tsp
Kasoori methi- 1/2 tsp
Yogurt - 1 /2 cup
Fresh cream - 4 tsp
Milk - 3/4 cup
Lemon  juice- 2 tsp
Cashew nut- 10-12 (you can add almonds if needed or both)
Coriander leaf  / Fenugreek leaves or both
Salt
Oil

Method:

Cut the chicken into small pieces and clean well pat the water and keep on side.

Take a bowl add red chili powder, salt, 1/2 tsp each ginger and garlic paste and lemon juice and make paste.
 Now add chicken pieces and mix well keep it for 1 hour.
Then add 1/2 cup yogurt and mix well let it rest for 30 minutes.
 By that time we can make tomato  purée and keep.

In a heavy bottom pan add oil once it’s hot add onion and cashew nuts fry till golden brown once it’s done remove from oil and keep it on side, once it’s cooled make paste and keep it a side.

In same pan add chicken pieces with marination left in the bowl let it cook till all water is dissolved completely after that remove and keep on a side.

Keep the same oil on gas once it’s hot add garlic and ginger paste sauté well now add tomato  purée then cook. Now add chili powder, garam masala and mix well. Now add the onion paste let it cook for few minutes. Then add cooked chicken and let it cook for few more minutes . After that add milk, fresh cream and  mix well and add kasoori methi and mix well.

 Now add chopped coriander leaf / fenugreek leaves and remove from gas. Serve hot with Chappati, Naan or any type of Roti.
